I’m excited to announce that my latest Kickstarter campaign has just launched as part of Zine Quest 2025!
OMEN is a game about deny the doomed fate of your world. You’ll gather together, create an apocalyptic scenario, and then try to hold it off!
OMEN is designed for one shots, so you’ll tell your story in one exciting session!
How does it work?
At the start of the session, each player rolls a big pile of dice. The results of that roll are what they have to spend throughout the session. As characters act, the GM will declare a Difficulty Value (DV) for the action. If the player spends a die from their pool greater or equal to the DV, the action succeeds! Otherwise, they spend a smaller value die and fail.
That’s right, you are opting in to your success and failure! There’s a puzzle to that. Maybe you have a lot of high valued dice left, and the DV for an action is a 3. Would be a real shame to spend that 5 or 6 on such a simple task. Maybe instead you’ll spend that 2, get it out of your pool, take the hit, and save those big dice for later.
It’s not all just the luck of that first roll. Players also have Omens, which allow them to manipulate or add to their dice pool throughout play. You can see some of them here!
That layout was done by the incredible Luna P, by the way. Go follow her on Bluesky, check out her work, and consider hiring her for your layout and graphic design needs!
Throughout the session, the GM will be tracking two clocks: Doom and Deny. Whenever things go bad for the players, the Doom clock is marked. If the Doom clock ever fills up, game over man, the world is over. But! When the players do great actions, preventing their fated destiny, the GM marks the Deny clock. If the Deny clock is filled, doom has been prevented (for now at least). Either way, your one shot session is over, and you tell a fun epilogue to wrap things up.
I’m running a sprint campaign here for OMEN, which means it only lasts one week. PDF and printed zine copies are available. And if you really want something extra, you can back at the Personal Doom tier to get a personalized doomsday scenario and unique Omens, just for your table!
Back OMEN today, share the promo post on Bluesky if you can, and just generally shout about it!
Thank you for your continued support, you all rock. Now let’s go deny fate.
